Panasoca secures 2nd away win

Pan Africa SA defeated Avedzi Utd 1-0 on match day 5 of the Volta regional division 2 league at the Abutia Kpota park.

The match which was played on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 was the fourth match for both teams in the first round.

The group B of the Central zone encounter saw the away side dominating the first 15 minutes of the game which brought about the only goal.

Attacker, Stephen Essaw exquisitely controlled, beat one marker and placed the ball to the far corner of the post under 10 minutes after receiving a cross from Roland Grippman.

It looked like it will be a game of goal harvest but the home side fought back and nearly got an equalizer in the 17’.

The game became balanced but Panasoca later took full control. They were however caught unaware with a defensive blunder in the 25’ but Avedzi Utd’s effort missed the post by inches.

It was a din don affair for the rest of the game with Panasoca missing some chances.

Head Coach Asamoah Dzifa after talking to his players on recess came back renewed yet couldn’t get the cushion. Raymond Grippman came on for Edem Kwao while Humble Tutu replaced Paul Adjei.

There was a temporary hold up of the game for 10 minutes as the home fans began throwing sachet water at the Assistant referee 1.  Not long, there was a hold up again for about 15 minutes as a fan threatened the Centre referee.

The referee however brought the game to an end after stoppage time.

The win becomes Panasoca’s second after their 4-1 win over Diamond Stars Fc on Match day 2 at the Barracks Park in Ho.

Stephen’s goal becomes the 4th in 4 league matches while Goalkeeper Andrews Quaye is yet to concede.

Head Coach, Asamoah Dzifa who spoke to says his boys should have done better but he doesn’t blame them too much because of the nature of the picth.

“It was not a bad performance from my boys but I expected them to do better than what they did. I can’t blame them that much because the nature of the pith didn’t help at all, making ball control very difficult. We will get back to serious business and correct all our mistakes.”

Pan Africa Soccer Academy still lead the group with 10 points plus 6 goals. They are followed by Area 51 Fc who also went away to beat Golden Warriors 4-1.

Diamond Stars Fc who stood bye on Wednesday trail Area 51 by 4 points lying 3rd. Golden Warriors and Avedzi Utd lie 4th and 5th with 3 and 2 points respectively.

Their first game was a 2-0 home win against Golden Warriors with thier third game against Area 51 Fc ending in a 0-0 draw at home.

Panasoca will begin their second round with a home tie against Avedzi Utd on Sunday, August 20, 2017.
